Plexi – Acrylic Sheets

Polymethyl methacrylate, also known as PMMA, is a transparent thermoplastic material. Thanks to its high transparency, resistance to UV radiation, as well as chemical and mechanical durability, PMMA is an excellent alternative to glass. There are two main production technologies for this material: extrusion and casting.

PMMA sheets have a flammability characteristic (fire class E according to EN 13501). Moreover, all products in the PMMA sheet category are easily recyclable.

Properties

Polymethyl methacrylate, or PMMA, stands out in the market due to its exceptionally high light transmittance, making it the most transparent among available materials. At the same time, it is characterized by lightness, coupled with a high material rigidity. This combination of features allows PMMA to be applied in various fields, especially where optical and mechanical aspects are crucial.

Additionally, PMMA exhibits excellent resistance, both mechanically and chemically, making it a durable material. Its high resistance to weather conditions and UV radiation makes it suitable for outdoor applications, where other materials may undergo degradation. Furthermore, the flexibility of the production process allows bending and thermoforming, as well as precise cutting using both mechanical and laser methods, further expanding its range of applications.

It is also worth emphasizing that PMMA is characterized by long-lasting durability, maintaining its properties for a period of up to 10 years. This makes it not only a versatile but also an economical choice in many industrial and manufacturing sectors.

Applications

PMMA, or polymethyl methacrylate, has found wide application in the production of advertising boards, stands, and store display elements. Its exceptional transparency and the ability to undergo UV printing make it perfect for creating attractive and durable forms of illuminated advertising, panels, and spatial letters. Additionally, the flexibility of the PMMA production process allows for precisely shaping elements, enabling the creation of high aesthetical value decorations for store displays.

PMMA is also used in the lighting and furniture industries, where its lightness, rigidity, and excellent light transmittance allow for the creation of innovative and designer solutions. Moreover, machine enclosures made from this material exhibit high mechanical durability and chemical resistance, making PMMA a popular choice in the industrial sector.

In the field of sound engineering, PMMA is used as a material for the production of acoustic screens, providing effective sound insulation. This versatile material, thanks to its properties, can meet various requirements in terms of design, functionality, and durability.
